How are Medical Marijuana Edibles Made?
Many people ask the question how do you make medical marijuana edibles? They also than ask what can I use to make cannabis infused edibles with thc or cbd? Well the question can be very simple or quite complex, even if you are making them at home. On the other hand if you are making them for dispensaries and other patients you need to test the materials in a number of ways from strengths to actual lab tests of your active ingredients. So you see these questions can be answered in a variety of ways but the gist of it is adding medical grade thc or cbd to a recipe and than having the recipe come out right. With the hopes in the end that your medical marijuana edible (or what is also know as a Medible) does not end up tasting like a brownie made from lawnmower grass clippings. So basically what you need to do is decarb the product you will be using if you be using it in a no bake or cook recipe. For example if you just are going to put marijuana buds or leaves in your recipe via making butter than you would first decarb your marijuana than make the butter and add it to your recipe ... Thus your food being infused, and you getting the effects of the activated (decarbed) medical marijuana. This is the most simple form of making a cannabis infused edible. But this is where I was talking about testing as its very hard to accurately gauge strength with this basic method. As well make sure that you know where the marijuana came from and how it was grown. No one wants to smoke pesticides or mold yet eating it is even worse and this is where I was talking about testing what I cook with. Due to the fact its hard to figure out strength as well was cured right or was mold growing in the plant, to make edibles for medical purposes you have to do all of this as well use a better more precise method than simple butter or oil from leaf. You will need to use naturally extracted oils as well not was or shatter as these were removed with butane and you might not think its and issue but you cannot put that in someone that is already sick, candy or food. Extracts made from CO2 extraction, Liquid Nitrogen extraction, Heat Pressed Rosin, Cold Water Extraction and as well Dry Ice Sift are all non toxic and natural methods without the use of volatile solvents which can and do leave residue.
So basically to be safe know who and where what your cooking with was grown or make sure it was tested. Before I ever started making edibles for other patients I had the oils personally tested and have them tested on a regular basis for molds, any sort of contaminants as well for strength of the cannabinoids in the oils. Doing this I can accurately measure with confidence the strength of and edible as well know its safe.
